FAQ

  • What is a home inspection?

A home inspection is a professional consulting service that determines the present condition of the home’s major systems, based on a visual inspection of accessible features. It focuses on the performance of the home, rather than cosmetic, code or design issues. Inspections are often performed during a real estate transaction but may be done anytime.

  • When should I schedule a home inspection?

The best time to schedule an inspection is directly after you have made an offer on a property. The real estate contract usually allows for a grace period to inspect the building. Ask your real estate agent to include this inspection clause in the contract, making your purchase obligation contingent upon the findings of a professional inspection.

  • What parts of the house will a home inspector assess?

USA Home Inspectors offers the most comprehensive home inspections in San Diego and Riverside Counties. Our inspectors visually inspector the following: drainage system, crawl space and ventilation, insulation, framing, plumbing, exterior, interior, air conditioning, swimming pool and spa, electrical system, foundation, masonry, appliances, windows, doors, roofing, heat pumps, furnace, siding, and more. (Some items may incur an additional charge.)

  • What are your inspectors’ qualifications?

Before joining our team, our inspectors must have graduated from the InterNACHI school. All of our inspectors are highly trained through the USA Home Inspectors Training Program with 10 post-secondary level courses. Our inspectors have all been vetted and endorsed by the California Association of Realtors. Each inspector goes through a six-month rigorous field training program taught by a board-certified Master Inspector.

  • Can I attend the inspection?

Absolutely! We encourage clients to attend. The inspection is a personalized course in homeownership. In the event that you are unable to attend the home inspection, your inspector will either schedule a phone or zoom call, or create a YouTube walkthrough video for you to go over his findings and answer any questions you may have.

  • Do you tell us whether to buy the house?

No, we provide you with the knowledge to make an informed decision. We understand that the condition of the home is one of many critical pieces of the puzzle when buying a property.

  • How long does a home inspection take?

An average sized, straightforward home takes two hours plus or minus 30 minutes. Older, larger and more complex homes take longer. The report writing process is typically about the same length of time as the inspection. Reports are sent to you the same day as the inspection, guaranteed.
